Nina Watson is a senior business leader with over 15 years’ experience in the UK’s leading media agencies, advising UK and international organisations on growth, strategy and investment. She has led large teams and managed nine-figure media budgets across the retail, financial services and entertainment sectors, developing a deep understanding of how consumer behaviour, technology, and public policy shape business and society.
She is currently completing an MA in International Relations at King’s College London, where her focus is on cybersecurity, feminist security studies and the governance of emerging technologies. She graduated with distinction in Mass Communication from Curtin University and brings an international perspective shaped by education in the Netherlands, South Africa and Malaysia.
Nina was a winner of the Conservative Young Women’s Policy Essay Competition in 2021 for her paper on tackling youth unemployment, presenting her proposals to Downing Street. She later stood twice as a Conservative local election candidate and served as Digital Media Officer for Twickenham Conservative Association. She is Churchwarden of her local parish and volunteers as a mentor and careers speaker with Inspiring Futures.
Alongside her corporate career, Nina founded and ran a small business teaching prenatal yoga and supporting women through pregnancy and early motherhood. This gave her firsthand experience of the opportunities and challenges facing entrepreneurs and small businesses.
Through the Thatcher Fellowship, Nina hopes to explore how public policy can better support innovation and economic growth in an increasingly digital world. Having spent her career at the intersection of business, technology and communications, she is particularly interested in the policy challenges created by artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and the future digital economy. She looks forward to contributing her commercial perspective while learning from fellows working across business, finance and public policy.
