Tom Danaher is a Director at Baillie Gifford, the global investment management firm headquartered in Edinburgh. Before moving to Scotland in 2022, Tom was an Investment Director at Evelyn Partners in the City of London, where he spent seven years managing investment portfolios for a wide variety of clients.
Tom is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investment. He graduated from the University of Manchester with first-class honours in Politics, Philosophy & Economics.
Outside work, Tom is a qualified football referee. Before moving to Scotland, he officiated in the National League and subsequently served on the Scottish FA’s Senior List of Referees until 2025. Although he still referees occasionally, he is now more likely to be found at weekends walking his cocker spaniel, Mungo, on the beaches of East Lothian.
Tom is delighted to be joining the 2026/27 Thatcher Fellowship and looks forward to debating ideas with his cohort and the CPS team. He believes UK politics is at a crossroads, with a growing contest of ideas, particularly among younger generations.
Drawing on more than a decade of experience in investment management, Tom is especially interested in how public policy can strengthen UK prosperity. Through the Fellowship, he hopes to develop practical ideas that promote entrepreneurship, individual responsibility and free markets.
