Gemma is Director of Operations and Chief of Staff at OAG, a leading provider of aviation data, intelligence and analytics. For nearly a century, OAG has underpinned critical decisions across the private and public sectors, shaping how the world travels.
A tech executive whose career spans travel technology, private equity, and strategy consulting, Gemma is on OAG’s senior leadership team. She is responsible for strategic initiatives, including AI implementation and new products. She also leads the growth team, translating what OAG builds into what its customers need, and convening the industry through research, partnerships and events.
Gemma is drawn to challenging problems, such as transforming a data company founded in 1929 into a technology leader. She has little patience for the pessimistic premise of stagnation, or for the justification that something must stay as it is ‘because it has always been that way’. She brings analytical rigour, a bias to action, and Anglo-optimism to the aviation sector, one of the critical industries the UK relies on.
Outside of work, Gemma is a keen ski racer. She is also a strong advocate for entrepreneurship, having founded OX1 Incubator for start-ups during her time at Oxford University. Gemma holds a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Magdalen College.
Through the Thatcher Fellowship, Gemma aims to explore how policymakers and private sector executives can collaborate to support UK innovation, growth and development. She is particularly interested in legacy companies and industries, in policymaking around AI, and in what it will take for Britain to remain a competitive hub for cutting-edge companies and talent. She looks forward to working with the CPS Fellows, pressure-testing her ideas and shaping concrete action plans.
