Oliver Middleton grew up in a single-parent family, reliant on welfare and free school meals. He initially joined the Labour Party as a 17-year old, becoming the youngest PPC in history when he stood for Labour in the 2015 General Election. Oliver is now, however, a member of the Conservative Party, believing that personal responsibility is a prerequisite for social progress and rejecting the leftist idea that only government can and should solve the problems society faces. Away from politics, Oliver has spent ten years working in financial and professional services. He has also
worked for two senior MPs, including the former Leader of the Opposition, and has written on policy and politics for the Times, the Guardian, the Telegraph, Conservative Home and CapX.
