CPS welcomes Government's embrace of hydrogen for transport

Responding to the Government’s Hydrogen strategy, published today, Eamonn Ives, Head of Energy and Environment at the CPS, said:

‘Hydrogen will be crucial to achieving a Net Zero economy, and it’s encouraging to see the Government recognise the important role it has to play. It’s especially welcome to see the inclusion of how hydrogen can decarbonise heavier elements of the transport network – as we called for in our report ‘Driving Change’ last summer. Embracing hydrogen now gives Britain an opportunity to lead the world in a vital sector and create thousands of green jobs – at a time when other economies are moving quickly to seize the global hydrogen market. This could be a huge step to becoming a world leader in green tech, helping us reach our ambitious emissions targets, and providing the means for other countries to do the same.’
