CPS welcomes Government's plans for UK-US free trade agreement

CPS Welcomes Government’s Plans for UK-US Free Trade Agreement

Responding to the Government’s plans for a UK-US Free Trade Agreement, the Centre for Policy Studies’ Head of Business, Nick King said:

“We welcome the Government’s ambitious approach to developing workable Free Trade Agreements on mutually beneficial terms.  Free trade means greater competition, lower prices, and more consumer choice; it adds up to greater productivity, faster economic growth, and higher living standards in the long run. Eliminating trade barriers between the world’s largest and fifth-largest economies would bring significant benefits to all concerned.

“However, there is also a clear need for speedy progress to be made in agreeing terms with the EU and other priority markets, including Australia and New Zealand to ensure the UK remains a true champion of free trade.”
