Despite what Corbynistas say, when it comes to tax we're more of a Sweden than a Singapore

Jeremy Corbyn’s fan club may claim Britain is a tax-cutter’s paradise but “when you actually look at Britain’s tax system, you quickly realise that it isn’t true” writes Tom Clougherty, CPS Head of Tax, in The Telegraph.

Corporation tax rates have dropped but receipts have risen, the total tax take is at a 32 year high, and only 19 per cent of voters said they consider the Conservatives as a party of low taxes, according the recent figures from polling carried out for Centre for Policy Studies.

Tom argues that Britain’s tax system is “falling far short” of the ideal, “transparent, well-designed and easily understood”.
