Reporting from the Centre for Policy Studies flagship Margaret Thatcher Conference on China and Britain, Ashmore highlights the views of keynote speaker Martin Jacques, who believes the UK hasn’t “fully taken heed” of what China’s rise will mean for the country, and the panel discussion including Lord Powell and Sir Malcolm Rifkind, both of whom highlighted the need for Britain to maintain a strong stance on human rights while still engaging China on economic issues.
