Replacing inheritance tax is easier said than done, says CPS Head of Tax

The Resolution Proposal to fund a ‘Citizen’s Inheritance’ through replacing inheritance tax with a ‘lifetime receipts tax’ wouldn’t be as simple as it sounds, according to Tom Clougherty, Head of Tax at the Centre for Policy Studies.

Writing his CapX debut, Tom points out that – according to the Taxpayer’s Alliance – inheritance tax accounts for 10 per cent of Britain’s tax code despite raising less than 1 per cent of government revenues.
