Almost three in ten people don’t even know MPs make laws that affect them and 40% of people have no trust in parish councils, local authorities, or the House of Commons, writes Matt Warman MP.
Matt, whose report ‘Who Governs Britain?’ is published by the Centre for Policy Studies today, sets out the scale of the challenge facing those who want to restore peoples’ faith in their elected officials.
‘Who Governs Britain?’ puts forward a number of proposals including building critical thinking into the exam struture to help young people identify fake news.
