Labour misses the point of the new gig economy

Labour’s approach to protecting employees rights at work is based on a mistaken assessment of the current situation, writes Robert Colvile, Director of the Centre for Policy Studies, in The Times.

More regulation and more protection for workers ignores the reality that a large proportion of those working in the gig economy are “relatively content with their working life” and view flexibility as a fair trade-off for a lack of job security.
