As the British Social Attitudes survey suggests the British public would back an increase in public spending, City A.M. asks is now the right time?
Robert Colvile, Director of the Centre for Policy Studies, writes for the ‘no’ side. Although there are many areas we could spend more money, he points out the money is not available and while people back increases in spending, they also feel the pinch in their pocket from an increased cost of living if taxes rise to fund spending.
