In reaction to the news of German withdrawal from UK nuclear projects, Tony Lodge gives his reaction to the Financial Times (£)

The author of The Atomic Clock:How the Coalition is gambling with Britain’s energy policy, forewarned that a monopoly of nuclear energy would have a negative impact on the energy markets. This issue is raised in the article:

“…there are also concerns in some quarters that the withdrawal by the German groups undermines the government’s attempt to encourage competition. The move means “that the bulk of the UK’s new nuclear plants risk being built by French state-owned EDF who have yet to provide an in-service delivery timetable for new plant”, said Tony Lodge, research fellow at the Centre for Policy Studies.”
