CPS Head of Economic Research Ryan Bourne was presented with the Eric Forth award at YBF8 over the weekend.
On Eric Forth’s premature death in 2006, The Young Britons’ Foundation inaugurated an annual award to be given to the young conservative, libertarian or classical liberal activist whose attitude, ethos and effectiveness best mirrors the values, beliefs and achievements of Eric – The Eric Forth Award for Activism.
The nominees were:
Anton Howes & James Lawson – for their work in setting up the Liberty League
John King – for driving forward the Freedom Association’s campus presence
Stephen Hoffman – for his campaigning zeal and devising the most memorable of chants at a Washington Nationals game
Ben Harris-Quinney – for moving the Bow Group forward by winning its Chairmanship
Nick Pickles – for exposing the continued growth of the state through Big Brother Watch
Ryan Bourne – for reminding the political class that lower taxes generate higher growth rates
On collecting the award Ryan had this to say:
“Eric Forth was a man who consistently displayed the sound principles that most conservatives believe in. I am both humbled and proud to have won this award in his memory. It is vital for the conservative movement that we learn from him; that we don’t allow continued calls for pragmatism to blind us from implementing what we believe. This is the key message that we will all take from the inspiring YBF8 conference – and I am incredibly grateful to the Young Britons’ Foundation for the role they play in stimulating debate and training young activists.”
