The speedy rollout of vaccines raises hopes for the end of lockdown and the start of the economic recovery. In this pandemic, every day has been very costly for the Government and any delay in lifting restrictions adds to this. Unique circumstances called for unique solutions, and to balance out the collapse of the economic activity, the Government opted for a debt-financed spending approach… but is there any money left now?

This panel discussion will explore the Government’s response to the pandemic, its effects on the public finances and the challenges this poses for the future. Our speakers will also discuss the changes they would like to see in the Government’s approach going forward, with a particular focus on the recent Budget.
