What is the role of business in the recovery? How has the pandemic affected the housing sector, and how can we use housing to drive growth? How important is regulation reform to boosting economic growth rates? What impact does this all have on the Government’s levelling up agenda? How can we recover from the economic shock of the pandemic, and boost economic growth rates in the long term?
All of these questions and more will be explored at The Centre for Policy Studies’ virtual Going for Growth Conference, on Friday 11 September 2020. The conference will bring together a host of expert speakers from the worlds of politics, businesses, economics, and the media, to discuss and debate key questions around the post-pandemic economic recovery, and what can be done to boost our economic growth rates. The Covid-19 pandemic and resulting lockdown have had an unprecedented effect on the economy. As the pandemic slows and the lockdown eases, minds are turning to what needs to be done to bounce back from the plummet in GDP and slow in growth rates, and how we might use this opportunity to go further than before. The Centre for Policy Studies is running its new Going for Growth programme to examine how we can ensure a business-led recovery from the pandemic, and the reforms we can make across industries and policy areas to boost economic growth in the long term, an agenda that has needed attention since before the lockdown. The first report in this programme, ‘After the Virus’, was written by former Chancellor the Rt Hon Sajid Javid MP and proposed a host of policy recommendations for getting the economy moving again. It is the greatest economic question we face: how do we turn today’s stagnant growth rates into a solid and sustained economic expansion?
The Going for Growth Conference will bring this work together to contribute to the thinking around the economic recovery and driving growth. Register below to hear from a range of leading politicians, business leaders, and experts from across policy areas and industries discuss these key questions and more.
