01/05/2018 - 01/05/2018

Jeremy Hunt, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, addressed a packed audience to warmly welcome a new report from the Centre for Policy Studies.

‘Powerful Patients, Paperless Systems’ by Alan Mak MP, published by the Centre for Policy Studies, explores how we can bring together the fragmented nature of NHS Digital services, making sure all services are on an easy to use platform with technology patients can trust and which conform to standardised rules. The report also looks at how the UK can become a world leader in ethics and data safety, creating built-in not bolt-on system.

Jeremy thanked Alan, and the team at the Centre for Policy Studies, for their work putting together the report and said he looked forward to implementing many of the recommendations.

Alan Mak spoke of the need to digitise the NHS not just the save money, but to bring about the changes in effeciency and ease of use both patients and healthcare professionals are calling for.
